We really need to hear what is being said and done in the house of the Lord. It is a dynamic place where the saints and all the souls reside for eternity. We too will be part of that household when our day comes. However, until that time we are charged with doing what we can to spread the word that the house of the Lord is alive vibrant and that there is no COVID19 there!
No matter how pretty the virus is under an electron microscope it is an ugly scourge here in His kingdom on earth. As I said in my first Connector, it is not if the virus will get to Waverly it is when. I suspect this week sometime. As soon as we can test for it in the general public, I am quite sure we will find what other communities have found – that it is already spreading among us. Now (!) don’t let that scare you. The very practical, but not easy, things that we have been asked to do will gradually slow this nasty virus and stop it in its tracks.
Remember the antidote of fear is belief and hope in the ultimate victory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Below are some ideas to consider incorporating into your family and personal life. They are:
Ideas To Live By
- You don’t have to feel isolated. Here at Trinity UMC we are using the ZOOM app to communicate with each other. It is an excellent video and audio app that allows you to talk face to face with anyone in the world that has internet. You can google it or go to the app store on any platform and download the app for free. If you want individual instruction on how to get this application on your smartphone or computer just call the office or me.
- If you are over 60 and watching children, please consider alternative arrangements for those children that you love and that dearly love you. This virus, as I said in my first letter to you, has those 60 and over in its ‘kill zone’. Children carry the virus, and many show no symptoms of being sick and that’s the same with adults up to about 45 and healthy. I know it will be hard on your family for you not to watch the little ones but it will be much harder on them if grandma or grandpa dies of the virus and they feel they may have given you the virus. What a horrible guilt to carry for them.
Please remember to send in your offerings and pledges. Our coffers are low and getting lower. This is much worse than a week or two of snow days on Sunday. Please be faithful to God’s call to you to give at least 1/10th of your income to His work.
Blessings to you all, Pastor Tom
